You may be surprised to hear that our average high for this time of year is just below 70°. The afternoon warmed up to the low 60s with blue skies residing for most of the day. By mid-afternoon, the high clouds starting rolling in from the west, but our temperatures had begun to fall at that point anyway. We will be stairstepping our temperatures through the next few days; expect each morning low and afternoon high to be greater than the last over the weekend. Clouds will continue to stick around tonight but that will aid in keeping heat trapped at the surface. As a result, lows should stay in the 40s. Cloud cover will thin out during the daylight hours tomorrow, meaning more sun will help the heating process.

Winds circulating around a high will help transport warm air to the Ohio Valley for Saturday |
As mentioned, this gradual warming trend will continue into the weekend. Weather for this Saturday's home football game against Old Dominion looks to be golden. Sunshine should outweigh the clouds, with highs in the mid 70s. We'll benefit from a dome of high pressure just off the Gulf Coast. It should send warmer Texan air our way in time for the gameday festivities. Be sure to soak it all in with some tailgating and time with friends. And of course, show up to Houchens-Smith Stadium to cheer on the Hilltoppers. We'll see how long the high decides to remain, but for the next few days, it seems to be keeping any appreciable rain chances away.
Tonight: A low of 42° with mostly cloudy skies. Calm winds.
Friday: Sun with a few clouds. High around 69° with light winds.
Friday night: Generally clear with a light southwest wind. Low near 48°.
