October is certainly off to a warm start! As shown in the graphic below from the
Kentucky Mesonet, Bowling Green hit the forecasted high of 87°, but some places
got even warmer. Russellville made it
all the way up to 90°! Tomorrow is
expected to be very warm as well.
However, for those of you who simply cannot take this heat any longer,
we have some good news.
The ridge that has been bringing us these clear blue skies
but unseasonably warm temperatures will only be controlling our weather for one
more day! The cold front that is currently
situated over the plains is going to make its way into our area tomorrow evening
and bring us some showers and thunderstorms tomorrow night into Friday. Since yesterday marked the end of the fifth driest
September on record for Bowling Green with only 0.37” of rain for the entire
month, that rain is much needed.
What is even better than the rain the cold front is bringing
is the temperatures that are following behind it. Tomorrow begins WKU’s Fall Break, and this
weekend it will actually feel a bit like fall! Once that front and the rain
that goes with it push out of the area on Friday, we will be looking at high
temperatures in the 60s for the weekend!
Forecast:
Tonight: Mostly clear skies, lows near 60°, and light
winds out of the southeast.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy skies, a 20% chance of isolated
showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, highs near 90°, and winds out of the south at around 8-10 mph.
Tomorrow Night: Mostly cloudy skies, a 90% chance of
showers and thunderstorms, lows near 67°, and winds out of the south at around
8-10 mph.
Thank you for reading!
