Snow Potential Overnight

The past week, the snow potential for tonight has been a main area of concern for Meteorologists and people alike here in the state of Kentucky. Today has been a fairly dreary day, with a high of 42° and steady rainfall. This rain is expected to transition into snow in the early morning hours. Deep moisture will continue to infiltrate the area and combine with colder temperatures to create wintry weather across the state tonight. If you're looking for some good snow accumulation here in Bowling Green, however,  I'd suggest you go north. Warm air aloft at 850 mb (about 5,000 feet) will keep snow from accumulating down here in South Central Kentucky.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Warren County from 2 AM CST to 11 AM CST Monday morning. The larger amounts of snow accumulation will remain north of our area; for Bowling Green, up to an inch of accumulation is possible. The transition time between rain and snow and whether enough moisture will be present once this occurs, remains in question. However, it's looking as though sleet and a short period of snow early tomorrow could create some slick spots for the morning commute. Another cold front will move through during the day tomorrow, causing the temperatures to fall into the 20s during the afternoon hours. With strong winds in the upper atmosphere, wind gusts up to 25 mph are possible.
