Colder Air on the Way

Today was another one of those strange winter days in regards to temperature. According to the National Weather Service, Bowling Green reached its high of 61° this morning at 2:16 AM. From then on, temperatures continued to decline for the remainder of the day, due to the passage of a cold front last night.

The short-lived taste of warmer air that we experienced this weekend may be coming to an end, but so is the precipitation. The low pressure system that affected our area this weekend has made its way northeastward into the Great Lakes region and Canada, taking the precipitation along with it. High pressure will begin to work into the region for the start of the workweek, allowing skies to clear by daybreak tomorrow.

WPC Surface Map, Valid 12 PM CST Monday
Monday will be nice and sunny, but with cold air funneling into the region, temperatures will stay below freezing. Temperatures tomorrow night should be a few degrees warmer than tonight's lows, and will remain in the low to mid-20s under partly cloudy skies. A blast of cold arctic air will be influencing our area and the upper Midwest later on in the week, dropping low temperatures into the single-digits; more details on that to come.

Forecast

Tonight: Clouds decreasing, low of 20°. Winds from the northwest at 10-15 mph.

Monday: Sunny, high of 30°. Winds becoming variable around 5 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy skies, low around 24°. Variable winds from the south at 5-10 mph.

Thanks for reading and have a great night!
