Drought Update

Storm activity became a little stronger than anticipated today. Butler, Edmonson, Logan and Warren Counties all had Severe Thunderstorm Warnings at one point this afternoon. Convective storms were quite numerous across south-central Kentucky, bringing some much-needed rainfall to many locations. Multiple deluges have made this August in Bowling Green one of the wettest on record, but counties to the west continue to be under a moderate drought. The latest drought analysis from the US Drought Monitor was released today, so it won't account for the rainfall seen this afternoon, but it illustrates which regions could benefit from some precip.

Moderate drought to the west of Bowling Green
Both mesonet stations in Warren County picked up between 0.15" and 0.20" of rain today. It came down quickly enough to warrant a Flash Flood Warning. Ponding of water on many roads was observed.

Tonight: A low of 70° with calm winds. Partly cloudy with patchy fog late.
Friday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. High near 91° with south winds at 5 mph.
Friday night: Partly cloudy. Winds becoming calm with a low around 69°.
