More Rain on the Way

Today has been quite the dreary day, as temperatures remained in the mid to upper-50s under cloudy skies. A frontal boundary that is currently positioned over the Appalachian Mountains, along with ample moisture and high upper-level winds have allowed for overcast skies and some light rain showers this afternoon. These rainy, fall days are not going anywhere anytime soon, either! Showers, and even some severe weather, are expected over the next few days.

Some shortwave kinks in the atmosphere will allow for the rain to continue during the day tomorrow, with storm chances becoming greater in the afternoon. Winds will transition and will be moving in from the south tomorrow, providing us with ample moisture and warmer temperatures. These conditions and resultant rain chances will continue into Sunday night, as a longwave trough begins to organize and deepen to our west. This system will begin to set-up for our severe weather chances Monday night and into Tuesday morning. More on what we can expect from that system will be included in tomorrow night's blog post. As for now, no severe weather is expected for Sunday.
