Rainy Week Ahead

The cold front that moved through this past Friday brought us half an inch of rain, which broke the dry, pleasant weather spell our area had been under for quite some time. This front associated with an upper-level trough, gave us temperatures far cooler than expected with lows dropping into the 30s last night. Today, temperatures have been struggling to make it to the forecasted 70° mark as skies have remained partly sunny.

An upper-level trough associated with a low centered over Ontario, will be re-digging back down into our area. This trough will supply ample lift for the formation of showers and thunderstorms beginning tonight and moving into the day tomorrow. The combination of moisture and warmer temperatures from the south, along with the upper-level trough, will give Bowling Green just enough instability to be placed in the "Slight Risk" of severe weather tomorrow.

Scattered storms will develop across the area tomorrow afternoon; the main severe threats will be hail due to the elevated form of these storms, and possibly some damaging winds. As always, stay tuned to the WKU Storm Team for updates on Facebook and Twitter!
