Snow Possible Tonight, Cold Tomorrow

Today was a rather pleasant day for early February with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 50s.  That is all going to change as the cold front shown below moves through the area tonight.  Temperatures will fall quickly through the 30s and into the 20s overnight, and there are rain and snow showers on the back side of this front.  That is a combination that could cause some trouble for the morning commute.

The scattered showers may start as rain, but it will all quickly switch over to snow.  Although only minor accumulations of a dusting to a half an inch of snow are expected in our area, any precipitation combined with such cold temperatures will result in slick spots on roadways.  So, allow a little more time and use extra caution in your morning drive.

Even if we do not get much snow tonight, tomorrow will still feel like winter!  The skies will clear out pretty quickly tomorrow as high pressure quickly moves in over our region.  However, temperatures will struggle to make it past the freezing mark.  So, make sure you bundle up!  It may come as a bit of a shock after the high temperature of 54° we saw today.

Looking ahead, temperatures will steadily increase over the next few days.  We will be back into the upper 40s on Friday and temperatures are expected to make it into the mid to upper 50s this weekend.  Our next chance of rain is on Sunday, but that system is expected to be all rain.  No more snow for a while.

Forecast:

Tonight:  Cloudy skies, 60% chance of rain and snow showers, lows near 22°, and winds out of the NNW at around 6-12 mph.

Tomorrow:  Mostly sunny skies, highs near 32°, and winds out of the NNE at around 5-10 mph.

Tomorrow Night:  Mostly clear skies, lows near 18°, and calm winds.

Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
