Winter Weather and Wind Chill Advisories

Temperatures are going to fall throughout the day today as another cold front moved through the region this morning.  We already reached a high of 25° early this morning, and temperatures are now in the upper teens across most of the area.  These temperatures will continue to drop as we move through the day and into the overnight hours.  Temperatures will be in the low teens this afternoon.  We will fall into the single digits and then subzero temperatures overnight.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6:00pm CST due to the light to moderate snow that affected many people this morning and the slight chance of scattered snow showers this afternoon as well as gusty winds.  The gusty winds will lead to blowing show, which could cause travel issues.  Roads and bridges will also be slick, so use extra caution if you have to go out.

Due to these strong and gusty winds, there is also a Wind Chill Advisory that will go into effect at 3:00pm CST and remain in effect until 6:00pm CST tomorrow.  Wind chill values colder than 10 below zero are expected this afternoon/evening and into Thursday.  These bitterly cold wind chills will make it dangerous to remain outside for very long.  If you must go outside, dress in layer to trap your body heat and insulate yourself from the cold air.  Cover as much exposed skin as possible.

Forecast:  Mostly sunny skies, slight chance of scattered snow showers, morning high around 25° with temperatures falling into the low teens during the afternoon, winds out of the west at around 12-15 mph, and wind chill values as cold as -3°.
