Hot Start to the Week

Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there! Today also marks the official start of the new season and the longest day of the year - the summer solstice. However, many of us in south central Kentucky couldn't enjoy the weather on this "first day of summer" due to the rain! Severe storms made their way through the area this afternoon, and some strong storms continue to track across the state.

Monday will bring a break from the rain, but not from the heat! Strong southwest winds will allow temperatures to soar back into the low to mid-90s. These temperatures, along with dew points around 70° and mostly sunny skies, will cause the heat index to be over 100° - that's hot! Be sure to stay hydrated during the day and take breaks from the outdoors as needed.

Temperatures Monday night will remain quite mild - in the mid 70s -  as we will be situated in the "warm sector" of a frontal system. Dew points will also remain high overnight, but mostly clear skies will dominate.

Tuesday will be yet another hot and humid day under mostly sunny skies. Heat indices will be an issue of concern just as they will be during the day Monday. Storm chances will come back into play Tuesday, increasing Tuesday night.

As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest weather updates!
