The way the atmosphere is set up will allow for not one, but two possible days for severe weather this week - both Monday and Tuesday. Plenty of warm, moist air will be streaming into our area via winds from the southwest, as a stationary front sets up to our north. With disturbances called "shortwaves" riding through, storms will have the necessary "ingredients" to develop. The atmosphere will also be very unstable, allowing these storms to possibly become severe.

Some storms are possible tomorrow morning, but what we're really looking at is later tomorrow afternoon/evening and into the night. Widespread wind damage and heavy rainfall/possible flooding are the main concerns with this system, but other severe factors such as hail and isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out. As shown below, Bowling Green is under an "Enhanced" Risk for severe weather Monday.
SPC Day 2 Convective Outlook |
As for Tuesday, the severe potential continues. This time, a low pressure system with a trailing cold front will allow storms to fire up in areas of remaining instability. A few rounds of storms are possible Tuesday into Tuesday night with plenty of forcing available.
SPC Day 3 Convective Outlook |
As always - and especially in times of severe weather - keep up with the WKU Storm Team on Facebook and Twitter.
