We have already picked up
some rain today, and more is on the way!
Showers and thunderstorms associated with a front located to our north and
west, along the Ohio River, are going to continue to slowly work their way
through south central Kentucky over the next couple of days. This is a slow-moving, nearly stalled, system,
so flooding is the main concern.
Since the showers and
storms may move over the same areas repeatedly, already saturated ground will likely
become flooded. Our entire region is
under a Flash Flood Watch until 7:00PM CDT on Wednesday. Watch for water over the roads when
traveling, and do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

The graphic above shows
forecasted rain totals from tonight through Thursday night. So, we could see another 1-2 inches of rain
before all is said and done. Locally
higher amounts are possible.
Aside from flooding,
there is not much of a severe threat with this system. A severe thunderstorm is not completely out
of the question. However, heavy rain is
the main concern at this time.
Forecasted high temperatures valid for Wednesday, July 8th courtesy of the National Weather Service. |
As shown in the graphic above, temperatures are expected to make it into the mid to upper 80s
tomorrow. However, depending on rain and
cloud cover, high temperatures may fall short of that in some places. This will be true both Wednesday and Thursday.
Looking further ahead,
rain chances will taper off as we head through the week, and only a very slight
chance of showers and storms will remain by Friday. This weekend looks like it will be sunny but
hot with temperatures rising into the low 90s.
Forecast:
Tonight: Cloudy skies, an 80% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms,
lows near 74°, and winds out of the southwest at around 5-10 mph.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy skies, a 60% chance of scattered showers
and thunderstorms, highs near 87°, and winds out of the southwest at

of the SSW at around 5-10 mph.

Thanks for reading, and
have a great night!
