Pleasant Weather Streak Ends

Good evening! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week with these very pleasant weather conditions across the area. You couldn't beat the sunny skies and cooler temperatures for the first week of classes at WKU. Today we hit a high of 86°, which is the warmest we've been all week, but still a couple of degrees cooler than our average for this time of year.

With high pressure moving off to the east, we will see a return to southerly flow at the surface this weekend. Because of this, heat and humidity will be on the rise with a chance for scattered showers and storms late Saturday and Sunday.

As for tonight, temperatures will be warmer than we've seen, with lows in the mid to upper-60s under mostly clear skies. For Saturday, expect partly cloudy skies with just a slight chance for an isolated shower or storm late Saturday evening/overnight. Temperatures will be a bit warmer than today, with highs in the upper-80s here in south central Kentucky.

Sunday, scattered showers and storms are possible throughout the day, which will keep temperatures lower than those on Saturday. However, temperatures will increase back to about 90° for much of next week as we head into the first few days of  September.
