You may have noticed some high clouds this morning accompanied by plenty of sunshine. This should remain the case throughout the day today. For some of the cooler places this morning, I would imagine temperatures will climb about 30° to our afternoon high. Here in Bowling Green, today's high will be 87°. There is a light northeast breeze, coming off a high pressure center over Ohio. The Commonwealth is still benefiting from fairly nice weather from this high, but it won't last too much longer. For the past couple of days, we've been watching the high track east. As it continues to do so, eventually warmer and humid air will be allowed to return. Today is the start of that warm-up. While still slightly unseasonable, we'll be a couple degrees hotter than yesterday.
Looks like some pretty cool air was wedged up against the Appalachians this morning |
Tonight's lows won't be quite as cool. Partly cloudy skies will arrive overnight with lows in the mid-60s. Saturday will remain partly cloudy and again will be a couple degrees warmer (close to 90°). It should be the final day without humid conditions. This is where our weather pattern begins to become more unsettled. The weekend looks dry but should be rather warm. Going into Sunday, highs will be about 90° and the humidity will return. This is generally what mid-August weather around here ought to be. Morning lows will also be getting warmer, into the upper-60s for the beginning of next week. It looks like lots of partly cloudy skies through the workweek, but there is also a slight chance of rain. The best chances are on Tuesday and Wednesday but even those are only 30% right now. A couple storms may be in the mix as well.
Today: High of 87° with northeast winds at 5 mph. Mostly sunny.
Tonight: A low near 65° with partly cloudy skies. Calm winds.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with highs around 89°. East winds at 5 mph.
