After
the rainfall we received this weekend, this month has become the wettest August
on record for Bowling Green! As of 4PM local time, the monthly precipitation value
was 11.28 inches per the National Weather Service. While the rain has done
wonders for the drought conditions we were experiencing earlier this summer,
flooding has become another issue lately.
But
some good news is here! The system with strong upper-level winds and moisture
that brought the rain this weekend is finally moving out of the area, allowing
for some clearing on Labor Day. The sun is already letting itself peek out a
bit this Sunday afternoon! Temperatures will be back into the upper 80s
tomorrow, but with muggy air quality. Under these conditions, there is a
chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm, but nothing widespread is
expected. Some scattered rain chances will return late Monday night as the next
system moves into our area on Tuesday.
Forecast:
Sunday Night: Some showers possible early in the evening.
Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies with a low around 70°. Winds from the south at
5 mph.
Monday (Labor Day): Partly sunny skies with a high of 88°.
Slight chance of an afternoon shower or storm. Winds from the southwest up to
15 mph.
Monday Night: Chance of showers and storms into the early
morning hours. Low of 71°. 30% chance of rain.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your Labor Day!
