Cloudy skies dominated the region all day today, ahead of a cold front that will approach the region overnight tonight. This cold front is currently sparking off some showers and thunderstorms off to the north and to the west. The rain looks like it will hold off until early tomorrow morning. Some thunder cannot be ruled out overnight, but heavy rain looks to be the main threat.

Behind this cold front we will see cooler temperatures coming back into the picture, as we will get our first taste of fall for the year. High temperatures in the weekend will only reach into the mid to upper 70s, and lows in the 50s! Finally we are going to get a really good break from the cycle of heat and humidity that we had been seeing over the last few weeks.

Above is a current look at the radar that shows the thunderstorms off to the north and west. Some of the storms will have the potential to become severe, as outlined by the severe thunderstorm watch (in yellow) and the tornado watch (in red). These storms do not look to keep their punch as they move into the area, so no severe weather is expected over southern Kentucky.
