Warm with Showers/T-Storms Tomorrow, Severe Weather Possible Tomorrow Night

Although we had pretty persistent cloud cover most of the day, we dodged a lot of the rain.  Most of it stayed up to our north.  Despite all the cloud cover, Bowling Green hit an official high temperature of 83°, which is 15° above the normal high temperature of 68°.

Tomorrow will be very similar with highs around 82° and a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.  However, tomorrow night will bring our highest chance of showers and thunderstorms.  The showers and thunderstorms that impacted areas to our north today and the ones that may impact us tonight and earlier tomorrow are due to a warm stationary front that has set up across northern Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.  However, tomorrow afternoon through early Friday morning, a cold front will move in from the west and bring a line of showers and storms with it.

Some of the storms associated with the system tomorrow night may become severe as they feed off the warm and humid conditions we have seen for the past couple of days.  As shown in the graphic below, we have a 45% probability for severe weather tomorrow, which indicates that we are in an area under an enhanced risk for severe weather or a greater concentration of organized severe thunderstorms with varying levels of intensity.  So, make sure you keep an eye on the weather as this line moves through.

Severe probability outlook valid from 7:00am CDT Thursday, April 9th through 7:00am CDT Friday, April 10th courtesy of the Storm Prediction Center.
The strongest storms will be off to our west during the day but are expected to hit our area during the overnight hours late Thursday into early Friday.  So having some form of an alert system such as a weather radio may be a good idea.  The main concerns with this system will be damaging winds and large hail, but there is a possibility we could have a tornado or two as well.  Just make sure you stay informed during that time.

Looking further ahead, once that cold front moves through, Friday will bring more seasonable temperatures and some clearer skies.  The weekend looks rather pleasant with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in upper 60s on Saturday and low to mid 70s on Sunday.  Rain returns to the forecast once again on Monday.

Forecast:

Tonight:  Mostly cloudy skies, a 30% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms, lows near 64°, and winds out of the south at around 5-10 mph.

Tomorrow:  Mostly cloudy skies, a 60% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, highs near 82°, and winds out of the south at around 6-12 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tomorrow Night:  Mostly cloudy skies, an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, some may be severe, lows near 58°, and winds out of the SSW at around 10-20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph or even higher in thunderstorms.

Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
