Cool and Rainy Start to June

Good evening! Today in Bowling Green we reached a high of 80°, which was a few degrees higher than expected. A wide temperature spread was present across the state of Kentucky, which can be seen in the temperature map below. Bowling Green and other areas in south central Kentucky remained in the warm sector of a frontal system, while areas up near Louisville were cloudy and much cooler all day.

Behind this front, precipitation will affect our region tonight and into the day and evening tomorrow due to a disturbance in the upper-atmosphere. Tomorrow will be an unseasonably cool first day of June, with temperatures struggling to make it to make it to the 70° mark - we're normally in the low 80s during this time of year. Even without the rain, clouds will be sticking around for most of the day, helping to keep temperatures down.

The greatest chance of rain for our area looks to be around the morning commute tomorrow, but be sure to keep your umbrella handy all day! A chance for showers will be present through the evening hours.

Tuesday will be dry and several degrees warmer than Monday, as temperatures begin to climb back up into the normal range for this time of year. While we will be dry, clouds will linger Tuesday due to a low pressure system to our south. Temperatures will steadily increase throughout the week with scattered storm chances coming back into play by Wednesday.

Forecast

Tonight: Chance for showers and thunderstorms; low around 60°. Winds becoming north from 3-7 mph.

Monday: Showers. Highs approaching 70°. Winds from the north from 5-7 mph.

Monday Night: Showers ending early. Otherwise, overcast with a low of 55°. Winds becoming calm.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a high temperature around 75°.

Thanks for reading and have a great night!
