Hot and a Little Humid Mid-Week

It was a warm one out there today with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and even flirting with the 90s in some parts of the region. Bowling Green topped out at an official high of 89 degrees. Our average high for this time of year is 85, so we are running just slightly above average.  As shown in the graphic below, we will get even warmer tomorrow!

A cold front brought us some active weather on Monday. However, as shown in the graphic below, our region is now under a center of high pressure.  This high pressure will be bringing us mostly clear skies and a southerly flow for the next few days. This combination of warm, moist air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico and plenty of sunshine will bring hot and humid conditions to our area for the middle of the week. High temperatures for the next two days are expected to make it into the lower 90s with overnight lows only expected to drop into the mid to upper 60s.

As that high pressure works its way off to the east and another cold front moves down from the north, we will have another chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and this weekend due to the already warm and humid environment.  The front will not actually reach us, so these showers and storms are not expected to be part of an organized system.  They will be rather isolated in nature and are expected to just sort of pop up in the afternoon hours.  None of them are expected to be severe at this time. We will have more details later in the week.

For the next couple of days the only real concern is the heat and humidity.  Make sure you drink plenty of water if you are going to be outside working, exercising, playing, etc.  We are already starting to really get into that summer heat even though summer does not officially start until June 21st.

Forecast:

Tonight:
Partly cloudy skies, lows near 65, and calm winds.

Tomorrow:  Mostly sunny skies, a chance of patchy AM fog, highs near 92, and winds out of the SSW at around 3-6 mph.

Tomorrow Night:  Mostly clear skies, lows near 67, and calm winds.

Thursday:  Mostly sunny skies, highs near 91, and winds out of the SSW at around 5-8 mph.

Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
